The Practice has made a conscious effort to ensure each age group has the opportunity to be involved and have adopted the following strategy to ensure compliance;-
· Posters in waiting room at both sites
· Application form available in every consulting room and reception
· Application form attached to each new patient registration pro forma
· Advertised on Practice web site with email link
· Involvement of Health Visitor and Midwife
· Publishing results and report of Practice Survey on web site and forum site.
· We would however, wish to encourage membership from the 65+ age groups and continue to mail shot some of the Retirement complexes located in the practice area.
Barlaston Parish Council has also very kindly offered to advertise our next Patient Survey in their Parish Magazine and on their website.
PATIENT SATISFACTION SURVEY 2012/13 - During the month of November 2012 - 412 patient questionnaires were distributed by post and face-to-face via reception at both our sites at Cumberland House and Barlaston Health Centre. The questionnaire was also available to download via our Patient Reference Forum site.
The priority issues identified from previous Patient Satisfaction Surveys were Appointment and Telephone Access and which had previously been discussed with Barlaston Parish Council as our link to Barlaston Health Centre patients. Analysis of . Q5 this year did indicate a slight decrease in the number of patients who were not aware of the telephone advice service, reflected by the number of blank replies to this question (30%, compared with 31% previously). The service will continue to be advertised and will continue to be part the practice plan for 2013/14.
A draft version of the survey was also posted on the Patient Forum site in October 2012. A good response was received by the forum members and comments and suggestions were taken into consideration.
Cumberland House Surgery has established a“virtual” group which in essence is an on-line Patient Participation Group referred to as Cumberland House Patient Forum. The Practice also has links with Barlaston Parish Council which provides a valuable link to the views of patients registered with the branch site at Barlaston Health Centre. The Practice meets with representatives of Barlaston Parish Council on a regular basis throughout the year.
The Practice to-date has 239 patients who have completed the application form and registered for the Patient Forum. At the time of writing this report 11 patients have activated their login to the Forum.
We believe the both the “virtual” and Patient Group are representative of the practice population as depicted below:-
